And a Glitchy New Year

01.11.12

The first Glitch of the year is tonight, and I’ve just finished a mix that exemplifies the energy that makes the night something worth going to. Remember to go to the Facebook event below and say something on the wall, so you may take part in 2-for-1 well drinks all night! Tonight d4d brings you Manifest Destiny, Simon Schultz, special guest band Kodiak, and newcomers The Dropouts. Bring your drinking spirit and lets party! But until then please enjoy a sampling of some of my favorite tracks right now, and some oldies that I haven’t played in awhile. Welcome to the Boiler Room.

Give Thanks for Dope Shit !!

11.30.11

Greetings and Salutations,

Isn’t the internet great? I think so, and given that you’re reading this right now I think you probably think so as well. I’d like to start this post by condemning the current drive by the entertainment industry to censor the internet with its SOPA/PROTECTIP acts. Please google those if you have not heard of them, these laws will essentially destroy the internet and keep us from showing you music we like. Public outcry against this drive is high, but the moneyed powers can take a lot of public bitching before they back down. So sign a petition, call your representative and senators, or just go tell someone about it and spread the word that rich people are trying to destroy the internet so that they can get richer. I will get off my soapbox now and talk about music.

So first up, a genius remix
Justice – Ohio (Daze Remix)

Outrageously chill is how I would describe it. Perfect for a day party by the pool, theres progressions and a plethora of sounds. Daze worked hard and well on this gem.

I like deep house when it stands out and this song does just that
Martin Dawson – Think About It (Maceo Plex Remix)

The bass is loud but under control, leaving room for the drone in the back to carry the track. Its minimalistic, but by no means minimal.

I dont think theres been a twin turbo release yet that wasnt good
Donovans – Rise & Fall

The melody is cliche but that was obviously taken into account when the track was made. Its very well syncopated and stays interesting throughout.

Only this: I fucking love Disco of Doom
Bart B More & Rubix – Ari (Disco Of Doom)

Distorted acid bass makes for a good time, and when theres a furious pounding behind it and youre not dancing, then youre probably deaf. :/

Im not one to listen to Chuckie whole lot. Hes a little extreme for my taste. This song though is a guilty pleasure.
Chuckie – Who is Ready to Jump

The drop just really grabbed me. It sticks out because a lot of the electronic music out there is really happy, and this track is angry about some stuff.

So listen to those, but have fun while you do it.
