[banger!!] John Roman – Reclusion 2 Mixtape

05.10.12

Get on this people!! John Roman brings the wreckage and takes no prisoners. This tape is full of some serious bass and heavy handed beats. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for those who like to get W E I R D !!

Tracklist::
01. St. Hood
02. Down (The Drain)
03. Infrared
04. Petrified
05. Monitor
06. Chimaera
07. T.G.S.
08. Fragments

WHAT IS RECLUSION 2?::

“Reclusion 2” is the second installment in John Roman’s infamous mix series of unreleased material. Although unlike the first, “Reclusion 2” features no remixes, no bootlegs and no edits – instead 8 new original tracks.

Inspired by, and a product of his solitary and obsessive work habit, the Reclusion series is an insight into Roman’s process and evolution as a producer. Sounds ranging from tribal to techno to UK funky to footwork, “Reclusion 2” is rarely ever one genre, but always unmistakably John Roman.

His hotly-anticpated “Infrared” EP on Lektroluv Records comes out May 21st on digital and vinyl. All three tracks can be heard first on Reclusion 2.

WHO IS JOHN ROMAN?::

John Roman is a 23-year-old producer/DJ from Toronto, Canada. His breakout 2011 single “Sala” was a cross-genre anthem, sounding equally at home in Laidback Luke’s BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, or in Ben Westbeech/Breach’s guestmix on Roska’s Rinse FM show. In 2012, his unreleased tune “Petrified” turned into one of the most sought-after club tracks of the year after appearing in Brodinski’s Fabriclive60 CD. Described as a “footwork siren” by Pitchfork and “an absolute techno monster” by Sinden, it’s a go-to floor weapon for DJs like Riton, Djedjotronic, and Harvard Bass.

Also a prolific remixer, Roman’s sound has been enlisted by the likes of Nouveau Yorican [Defected], Sinden [Grizzly], Crookers [Mad Decent], Sound of Stereo [Lektroluv], and many others.

Keep up to date with John Roman::

Deck Safari

12.20.11

It’s no secret that Air is my favorite band in the world. I was actually watching an Air documentary last night and realized that they were doing the live electronic band with white outfits way before Soulwax was. These guys are still ahead of their time and when we look back in 2067 to bands that inspired the future, everybody will point to Air and hopefully this post.

Either way, enough of that trip. What I’m posting today is a 4 CD mixtape done by Air circa Moon Safari (1998). It was never released commercially, it was a radio promo that somehow found itself onto random store shelves. Thankfully someone out there in internetland ripped it for us to enjoy. So I present to you Deck Safari, a 4 hour mix of the influences behind Air’s seminal album Moon Safari.

Air – Deck Safari (Part One – Disc I)

Air – Deck Safari (Part One – Disc II)

Air – Deck Safari (Part Two – Disc I)
